After 12 months, Beaver has well and truly become a “North Sider”.
A staple of the north side is Barry, a busy cafe near the start of an even busier High St Northcote.
Hipster is in moderation, ignoring the epic Westgarth Cinema a few doors down. Sporting a tiny dash of street art in the surrounds and easy access by tram, Barry is, as the business card suggests, a coffee and food venue.
Must Have:
The Eggs Benedict – made with ham hock and no bread! thank the Lord, no bread. Instead you get a sneaky potato hash to just a few extra coronaries.
The Red Chilli scrambled eggs – I always have respect for some who can get the ‘hot’ level just right.
Other thoughts:
Not the best coffee in Melbourne… but passable, just.
